THE GAP OF DUNLOE

The Gap of Dunloe is a narrow mountain pass between two mountains - Macgillycuddy's Reeks to the west and Purple Mountain to the east.  The long and winding road, which includes a 500 ft. climb, is more suitable for riding ponies and horse-drawn carts than it is for motorized vehicles, so our little group made use of both. Guided by local Gap Poneymen, we began our 7 mile trek at Kate Kearney's and ended at Lord Brandon's Cottage.
